today's work

what did i do today? I set up some lights for shot 39 and tweaked a bit of ferhan's animation and adding a fall to the end with the addition of the camera. I set this up to render but it seemed to be taking forever, about 3 hours or so for 1 frame so it would be done for the degree show but not for hand in lol ah well. Dan said its because of the textures being too high in resolution which will be turned down in time with the priority at the moment being on the folders and putting what we have rendered into composition and editing A film together even with play blasts. I finished off my animation compilation, bit disappointed at not all of my shots being rendered but i have a few to show which is not all doom and gloom but i do have finished playblasts of every shot and the renders show what the film would look like once finished. I also created the image above for my front cover. Put a couple of render layers together and voila! I still need to put some more images in my folders but the majority is sorted as well as putting some final images on my blog

progress of lighitng shot 23

from bottom to top is the start to end process of how i lit shot 23. I had a primary light coming through the window with some subtle lights in the back corner and in front of the chair to show of some textures and catch some nice lights on the background objects

demonstrating the reference

screen image of how i compared the key poses of my animation to my reference

not sure if ive posted this already...

this is the video reference that i used for the run cycle in shot 33. Its only the first run cycle near the start of the clip that i used, obviously adding my own touch with timing but its to get the key poses

lighting shot 23

sorting out the lighting on shot 23 so it can be rendered tomorrow. nearly there with it. I know its an old scene but ill just import the lights in to the comlete shot

Animating SHOT 51

So this is how Shot 51 started out from when I started blocking out and initial animation.

After progression, I tried to add a little hesitation and thought to the hitman as if to show that he is thinking about his opposition and thinking "Ok....All these ninjas are a worthy opponant!" but in the end i took this out as I didnt think it did the shot justice and may look a bit odd.

This is the finished shot and ready for render and on the Adrive

Tuesday 18 May 2010

shot 25 final blockout

from start to end pose

shot 25 blockout

shot 25 is blocked out. need to add the inbetweens but you can see how it is going to look when its done

Monday 17 May 2010

shot 45 final

started this off today and finished it pretty quick but i think its good enough for the film

shot 23 final

after a week or so working on this baby its finally done. Im actually quite proud of this one and satisfied with the outcome

shot 45 progress 3

shot 45 progress 3 is the latest point im at with this one. only taken me a couple of hours and its nearly there. Animation is not its best but at least its something for the film

Friday 14 May 2010

shot 23 progress 2

ok so the hips and legs are done now its just getting the arms, chest and head movements right...

Thursday 13 May 2010

shot 23 progress

after finishing shot 33 ive gone back to 23. Heres what its at now i had a little trouble tweaking the timing but its nearly there. accomplishable by tonight

Friday 30 April 2010

SHOT 23 blockout

Got cracking with shot 23 today. took Sam's file of the motel and made a blockout so far, need to add him looking back up but ill put the inbetweens for the animation so far in first.

Wednesday 21 April 2010

shot 2 so far

so heres shot 2 so far. Just need to add him walking now and this is ready for render tomorrow

Friday 16 April 2010

walking reference

For my own personal use really, Ive added a link to a walk cycle from the hitman game of the Hitman walking with a brief case in his left hand. Sheer luck that its spot on what i need. I like the shift in weights and casualness of the walk

SHOT 2 Opening pose

So we can finally animate the hitman. So far so good. No animation as of yet but ive got the starting pose of the dude

Thursday 15 April 2010

jiggly wiggly

out a jiggle on the jacket as i think it looks pretty damn good and ultra realistic and will make animation look slick and too good. Gonna add it to the sleeve too and this will be ready to go. when animating though it needs to be disabled otherwise it will lagggggggggggggggggggggggg

Friday 9 April 2010

hitman fully weighted

I can reassuringly say the hitman is now fully weighted and maybe a touch here and there but its done for now. All that is left to do is the hand driven keys and the tie which means that the H man will finally be ready for animating on monday. Although it is not the best rigg in the world but it will be fine for our purposes as it has the functions required for this film. Good times!

Thursday 8 April 2010

weighting them damn shoulders...

Mate...taken me most of today to weight paint those damn shoulders cos its a pain in the arse. I do too much on one joint and it messes up the other and vice versa so i decided to put it in its most extreme position which is reaching forwards and weighting it till it looks ok. This is the point im at now and just a few more tweaks and we can start animating with this bad boy. the above is the unsmoothed version....rubbish right? and below is the smoothed version which i think looks pretty nice. But as i said a few more tweeks and were ready to rumble

UVing fun

Spent this morning working out the UV mapping. Found some useful links which are now posted in a category called tutorials on my blog link list. I thought id start by trying out some sheets of paper and creating the textures for them. Not looking too bad I think so i mite try the table next. Theres also a link in my tutorials for normal mapping which im going to try out

Monday 29 March 2010

screen grab

heres the left leg joint weighted. This is a mere visual reference so i can mirror this after ferhan has altered the rigg and also for my technical reference

painting some weights

Sorted out a bit of the weights for the left leg. Ended up opening a previous file with Fuzzy101 before he binded the skeleton to the mesh and lowering down the leg hip joints and this is what I ended up with after painting the left leg weights. looking better so the plan is that ferhan puts the blend shapes on the rigg and then i spend a day painting the weights as i feel it is achievable.

Peace

screen grad of sai knife

After todays chat with Dan Ive screen shotted the sai knife that Ive been working on today. Its the finished model and so all thats left to do now is the ninja's sword and sheeth

The finished model

heres the finished brief case modelled and ready for texturing both closed and open images. Enjoy!

Friday 26 March 2010

nearly there

almost there with the brief case. I think it looks quick slik and i still need to add some more to it but it will be done before the day is out then its just the 2 knifes and sword for mondays deadline

Thursday 25 March 2010

adding some interior detail

starting to put some detail into the interior of the brief case

Wednesday 24 March 2010

the detail

so heres how the case is looking from the outside. Im going to have 2 versions of the brief case. When its shut its gonna have nothing inside it as you wont see it so whats the point of the sniper and weapons being there? as it will slow down render time. Im gonna add to this tomorrow but you get an idea of where its going

new brief case layout

Ive moved the items around since the last post as it didnt quite work with where i wanted the handgun to come out. But this is the new layout and obviously not finished yet but im aiming to get it completed by tonight

Tuesday 23 March 2010

getting the layout of the brief case

Heres how the rifle will appear unassembled. I had to take the nozzle off at the end to make it a seperate piece otherwise the briefcase will be too long and I don't like it. The little square in the corner is where a key pad will be as I want the pistol to slide out of the side of the case. Still need to find somewhere for the throwing knife but its coming. Need to add the lid now and some details and this is sorted for texturing

Friday 19 March 2010

what ive been upto today

quick playblast of an animation im working on. The timing is still way off and its just a bit more than a block out but it was a bit tricky with the graph editor. Hopefully be done soon. Plus it gave me a break from modelling and some practice

Thursday 18 March 2010

the rifle

So here it is. The finished piece. Ive noticed sam and dan have had a play around with some renders with the rockwell dude and they look pretty good. Im quite chuffed with this model and i think a few more details and this will be one of the best things ive ever modelled. Im gonna get everythin else done first before I go back to this though.

Friday 12 March 2010

couch potato

after working on the sniper, i had a quick play with the rockwell dude today and just doing a little test with him changing the channels on the tv. Not finished yet but working on it.

sniper latest

spent today working on getting this bad boy done and im almost there. Its just adding a few more details and it is finito. Personally I quite like it but as i said its just putting some details on it then its ready for texturing

Thursday 11 March 2010

quick test

spent 20 mins of this afternoon doing a quick pose with the rigg that Dan found. Just to see how the target could look. Pretty fly!

Wednesday 10 March 2010

update on the sniper

been working on the sniper rifle which seems to have been forgotten about. Gonna get this done before the week is out and finish off the room too. Hopefullly start texturing some of these babies next week

Tuesday 9 March 2010

update

update on the progress of the motel room. Added a radiator and step ladders which i thought shows how the target would get there himself usually. The square floating in the air on the top image is the trap door.

Wednesday 17 February 2010

some long awaited renders...

So this is how the motel room is shaping up so far. Still loads more to do with it but its progress upto date. Personally think its coming along quite well even with the dissertation looming to a close. Nearly half way there with the diss so should be done with that soon so i can concentrate on the film which i feel ive put to one side because of the dissertation but ill be cracking on with this more as time goes on

Wednesday 3 February 2010

laaaaaaaaaaamp

starting to pack the room out now. Did this lamp which will go in the corner. Pretty basic but i like it

tv remote

tv remote. Looks a bit simple but probably change it at a later time

forgot my stick!! so heres a tv...

forgot my memory stick today so im modelling some props. modelled a tv for the room just now and thought id show it off. Looks ok to me but have to see how it looks with the rest of the stuff and how it fits in.

Wednesday 20 January 2010

starting the motel

Making a start on the motel room today boys and girls. Heres a few pics that ive found to give me some inspiration
I've included a floor plan to give me an aerial perspective of a simple layout that i can follow and change accordingly to make the room look swish

Sunday 17 January 2010

the finished model

This is more or less the finished model now. I've also rigged the gun for when the Hitman fires a shot and its probably the simplest rigg you will ever use in your life! Its all in the trigger. Default key is 0 and simply set another key at -0.9 on the translate Z axis and the animation is done for you. Piece of cake. Now just need to add a silencer and a magazine and this beauty is ready to go

latest on the handgun

almost there with this one now. Got to add more to the handle and then one or two more details then this is ready for texture. Expect the next update of this to be the finished model

Thursday 14 January 2010

today's update continued...

This is how the handgun looks now. The top image is the gun standard on its own and the 2nd image is after a gun shot as the bullet comes out. Theres not much detail on the inside of the weapon as a shot is literally a split second but at least it shows an exit for the bullet shell. Im going to include the magazine clip on the side, kinda like a memory card for the playstation with the bullets in. Other than that I'm pretty happy with the day's work and, after a brief chat with Dan, will start the motel interior environment soon as. All I need to do for this now is add the handle :D

today's update

Been working on the handgun for today and have almost completed the model. This image is from this morning to show progress. I really like the layout and my team members are also happy with how its going

Monday 11 January 2010

latest update

another glimpse with more done to the scope

sniper update

quick update shot of the sniper model. Still far from finished as you can see but at least u can see what ive been up2. The plan is to model it first and then play around with the verts to exaggerate some of the parts. Once i get an idea of the hitman's size i can then get the proportions right :)

Wednesday 6 January 2010

dark days are coming

Remember me talking about a video earlier on last term and you thought i was nuts? I've found it at last! ahahahahahaha

The video worth watching is The Secret World. I like the layout of the room that the girl goes into and its given me some inspiration for the target's room.
